This unique non-residential retreat consists of two full Fridays in Spirit Rock’s beautiful new community hall—separated by a week of “daily life practice” in your own home and workplace, supported by home practice assignments, guided meditations, and dharma discussions via teleconference.
The program is designed to help you establish (or deepen) a nourishing, flexible, and reliable home meditation practice that is integrated into the unique rhythms of your busy life. In the rapid pace and high stress of contemporary life, many people feel like they don’t have time for a meditation practice. But in fact, this is when we need it the most. In this retreat you’ll learn how to make your day-to-day practice feel like a refuge and a support, not an obligation.
The days at Spirit Rock will be held in Noble Silence and will include sitting and walking meditation, gentle mindful yoga, guided reflection and dharma discussion. Every day in between, you will be offered specific suggestions and guidelines for integrating meditation and mindfulness into whatever your activities are that day — at work, at play or at home. Throughout the week you’ll be offered several opportunities to participate live in guided morning or evening meditations and dharma discussions via teleconference — or to listen to the recordings of these sessions, if the live timing doesn’t work for you.
To Spirit Rock, please bring a packed lunch and a blanket for lying-down meditation. To participate in the home practice discussions, you’ll need phone or Internet access.
