Daylongs, classes, and benefits are usually held in the Community Meditation Hall, and occasionally are in the upper Retreat Hall when there is not a residential retreat in progress. Unless otherwise noted, all daylongs are suitable for beginning and experienced meditators and include basic instructions.
Please register online by finding the daylong you would like to attend, or by sending a check payable to SRMC, PO Box 169 Attn: (code for the daylong), Woodacre, CA 94973.
Spirit Rock is wheelchair accessible. If you have any other access needs, please call (415) 488-0164 x 276.
In consideration of all participants, please do not wear scented personal care products to Spirit Rock (including "natural" products).
Class and Daylong Fees at Spirit Rock
Spirit Rock's intention is to make these teachings accessible to everyone, thus fees for daylongs, classes and special events are kept as low as possible. These fees are, however, a major source of operating income for Spirit Rock. No one will be turned away from daylongs and classes for lack of funds. Benefit events, some special events, and residential retreats are an exception to this policy.
For those who cannot afford a daylong or class fee, a flexible work exchange program is available. To learn more about this, contact our Volunteer & Community Coordinator at (415) 488-0164 x 224. Special scholarships for people of color are available, call (415) 488-0164 x 224 for more information.
Daylong/Class Series Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend an event, please call (415) 488–0164 x 234 or send a fax to (415) 488-1025 to cancel and request a credit by 5 pm at least two business days preceding this event, and we will credit your registration fee towards another non-residential event. If you don’t contact us prior to this deadline, no credit will be issued. All credits must be used within one year of their date of issue. In order to use a credit, you must pre-register for the event. Credits are not transferable to residential retreats.
Dana (The Practice of Generosity)
The teaching is done by donation (dana), which can be made at the end of the daylong. For more information about dana.
What to Bring to a Daylong
- Please bring your own lunch. There is hot water, tea and a microwave available in the foyer. We do not have a refrigerator.
- Please bring your own mug or cup for tea and water, and whatever utensils or other materials you need for lunch. Spirit Rock has looked into offering compostable materials instead of the non-recyclable paper plates and plastic ware we currently offer. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find products made from materials that break down without a commercial composter. Please help us reduce our trash output, and the impact on the land.
- Chairs and some cushions are available; if you have a cushion, please bring it.
- You will be asked to remove your shoes prior to entering the Hall; you may wish to wear or bring warm socks.
- Please wear layered clothing as the hall temperature can vary from cool to warm.
- In consideration of all participants, please do not wear scented personal care products to Spirit Rock (including "natural" products).
