Join us to celebrate the release of Larry Yang's New Book, Awakening Together: The Spiritual Practice of Inclusivity and Community

Building community can seem like a worthy purpose, a high aspiration, even a wholesome ideal. But the teachings of the Buddha invite us into experiencing more than that. The Dharma invites us into the experience that sangha is as integral to awakening as the Buddha and the Dharma. This makes the refuge of sangha so precious — it is an indispensable part of our spiritual path and a dire necessity in this complex world that often feels more fragmented than interconnected.

In this daylong we are invited to cultivate a sense of community as our personal and collective spiritual practice. We will build sangha through the lens of the Dharma. We will explore how valuable opening of our minds and hearts can be in creating relationships of interdependence. We will explore our collective spiritual path to liberation and freedom. Please join us for a day of spiritual practice through sitting, walking, eating, movement, experiential exercises and Dharma discussions. We will explore meditations on mindfulness and loving-kindness in the Theravada Buddhist tradition as a community. And we will explore our collective spiritual path to liberation and freedom.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Awakening Together is about the process of developing, nurturing and sustaining inclusive and diverse communities. It explores skills that are so needed in a world that can feel so currently fragmented. This book is a personal narrative and historical record of individuals and multiple communities aspiring to collective freedom, and creating actual paths towards that awakening together. The personal and the collective are one and the same awakening. Awakening is all about freedom, as is this book.

Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited income) are invited to attend this day for $45.
