Welcome! Spirit Rock Meditation Center is located approximately 45 minutes northwest of San Francisco, 60 minutes west of Oakland and 12 minutes from Fairfax.

Note: Fairfax is the last stop for gas, so if you’re driving, be sure to plan accordingly. Prices for transportation listed below are subject to change. Check with each transportation company for current prices.

Opportunities to Visit Spirit Rock

We are excited to welcome visitors to Spirit Rock! Our serene campus and bookstore are open for visitors from 10am-2pm on all residential retreat closing days and during daylong events held in our Community Meditation Center (CMC). This reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusivity, offering more opportunities for you to enjoy the peaceful environment, connect with community, and explore our beautiful grounds.

Please note that while the upper campus will remain closed during ongoing residential retreats, you are invited to explore the lower grounds and bookstore during your visit. We kindly ask that all visitors respect posted signs and follow staff directions.

Service dogs are welcome on the campus, but please note that pets and emotional support animals are not permitted at any time, including in parked vehicles.

Retreat Arrival & Departure Times

Check‐in is between 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. PT on the opening day of the retreat. Check out is 11:00 a.m. PT on the last day. No late arrivals or early departures, please.

Transportation Options from Oakland (OAK) & San Francisco (SFO) Airports

Spirit Rock is accessible from both the Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO) International Airports. Please allow two to three hours to get from the airport to Spirit Rock. Either airport is fine. Choose flight arrangements that will get you to the retreat on time and do not cause you to leave early.

Door‐to‐Door Service

Booking a shuttle with Western Eagle

Western Eagle Shuttle (415.342.6444 or www.westerneagleshuttle.com) rates are $100 for the first passenger and $15 for each additional passenger one way.

  • Booking Your Shuttle To Spirit Rock: Feel free to book your shuttle directly through Western Eagle's website to get to Spirit Rock.
  • Booking Your Shuttle Away From Spirit Rock: Please do NOT book your return shuttle on Western Eagle's website. Our Retreat Coordinators will take care of your return booking directly once you arrive on-site. We have pre-existing, agreed-upon time slots with Western Eagle, and booking privately creates logistical issues.

Ride-Hailing Apps and Taxi Companies

Uber, Lyft, or other taxi companies offer service to Spirit Rock. Please note: Uber/Lyft work best on the way to Spirit Rock, but our Retreat Managers advise against it on your way out due to poor phone reception and suggest booking a local taxi instead.

Service to San Rafael Transit Center

SFO to San Rafael

Marin Airporter (415.461.4222 or www.marinairporter.com) is approximately $25 one way to 1081 Andersen Drive, San Rafael. This is 1.8 miles from the San Rafael Transit Center, from which a taxi can take you to Spirit Rock.

OAK to San Rafael

Sonoma County Airport Express (707.837.8700 or www.airportexpress.com) is approximately $30 to the San Rafael Transit Center.

Getting to Spirit Rock from the San Rafael Transit Center

The San Rafael Transit Center is at 3rd and Hetherton, San Rafael, 8.4 miles from Spirit Rock.

Taxi

The ride takes 20-25 minutes to Spirit Rock, and cost varies. Taxis are usually waiting at the Transit Center, but you may wish to reserve one in advance by calling Marin Happy Cab Company (415.455.4555) or Radio Cab (415.485.1234).

Uber/Lyft

Cost from the Transit Center to Spirit Rock varies.

Bus

The West Marin Stage goes from San Rafael Transit Center to West Marin every day via the #68 bus. When boarding the bus, please tell the driver that you’re attending a retreat at Spirit Rock and to drop you off in front of the entrance gate. The cost is $2 for each adult.

Carpooling & Ridesharing

Participants may offer rides to and/or from retreat, or ask for a ride on our rideshare message board. This board is monitored by the participants and not by Spirit Rock staff. We recommend that you post your request or your offering a month before the retreat. Participants will then make arrangements between themselves. Be sure to check the message board regularly as the retreat approaches as more participants may make posts. Spirit Rock staff are not able to make ride arrangements for arrival at retreats, but we will be able to assist on your return home.
